The Magical Stream follows Addi, a kindhearted eleven-year-old who is excited to welcome Nuella, a new student at Pickertville Middle School. Instead of accepting Addi’s friendship, however, Nuella begins hiding her belongings, pulling her hair, and treating her unkindly.
After Nuella pushes Addi during recess, the school counselor brings the girls together. There, Nuella reveals the grief and loneliness behind her anger. Her father has passed away, her mother works long hours, and she spends much of her time alone.
The Meaning Behind the Adventure
Every child carries a gift that can brighten someone else’s world.
Inspired by the author’s niece, Addisyn, Addi represents courage, inclusion, and the belief that differences never limit a child’s ability to lead or make a meaningful impact. Her magical hearts symbolize qualities every child can offer, including kindness, patience, creativity, and the courage to ask for help.
Through Addi’s journey, families and educators can begin valuable conversations about emotional honesty, personal boundaries, loneliness, and using one’s unique gifts to support others.
